The Carnegie Deli Pop-Up promo thrills all that came out for the week-long promotion for the Amazon Prime TV hit, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. This promotion flashback to 1958 — including the prices! — opened with a huge success.
Eddie Fahmy of A2z Restaurant Consulting was brought in by Amazon to coordinate everything to do with the restaurant — location, setup, etc. After the first day of the promotion, he said:
This is a great promotion that Amazon Prime sponsored. We really wanted patrons to ‘feel it’, to feel like they were really back in 1958 at the famous Carnegie Deli. We couldn’t be happier with the first day’s turnout.
When Eddie and others arrived at the “Carnegie Deli” reborn on Lafayette Street in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City, they were met with period cars lining the street; sandwich prices less than $1, and NYC famous Dr. Brown’s sodas for $0.50.
The iconic Carnegie Deli for 80 years was touted as the best sandwiches — anywhere. People would travel distances to visit, and out-of-towners would always make time to stop by.
Mr. Fahmy noted that:
We were set up in the kitchen to be able to produce 600 sandwiches a day for this promotion, and I think we capped that on day one. It was fantastic to see so many people coming out to join in the experience.
